Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań is participating in the OMNIPLANT project – National research infrastructure for imaging and multi-omics analysis at the single plant cell level for modern agriculture and forestry – co-financed under the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021–2027 programme.

OMNIPLANT is a joint initiative of a Poznań-based consortium composed of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences (leader), Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, and the Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences. The work carried out at AMU will be coordinated by Dr Anna Kasprowicz-Maluśki from the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.

The project will create advanced research infrastructure for imaging and multi-omics analysis of single plant cells, enabling deeper insight into the mechanisms that govern plant function and adaptation, and supporting the development of innovative solutions for modern agriculture and forestry.

As part of the project, a Laboratory for Imaging the Ultrastructure and Chemical Composition of Plant Cells will be established. The laboratory will be equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, including confocal microscopes for advanced fluorescence and label-free imaging, real-time observation of biological processes in plants under natural conditions, and a laser microdissection system for isolating tissue fragments and single cells.

The total value of the project is PLN 35,762,119.11, including PLN 24,306,091.20 in European Union funding for the consortium. The AMU part of the project is valued at PLN 17,983,401.68, with PLN 11,543,757.04 provided by the EU.

OMNIPLANT represents an important step in strengthening modern plant research infrastructure in Poland.

Project co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for a Modern Economy programme.
