That’s a wrap on an extraordinary IMBB Institute Day! 🌿 We had an incredible time bringing our scientific community together for two days of inspiration, outstanding research, and meaningful connections.
From deep dives into molecular medicine to the future of space exploration, our program was packed with brilliance. Here are some of the absolute highlights from this year’s event:
- The Opening Keynote: Prof. Roland Lill set a fantastic tone at the Faculty of Biology with his lecture on the complexity and disease relevance of iron-sulfur clusters.
- Honoring Our Roots: Prof. Zofia Szweykowska-Kulińska and Prof. Artur Jarmołowski took us on a wonderful journey through the history, evolution, and landmark scientific achievements of the IMBB.
- From Space Astronauts to Disease Mechanisms: Our sessions covered groundbreaking topics, including engineering mitochondrial stress tolerance for space exploration (Dr hab. Andonis Karachitos & Prof. Hanna Kmita), new insights into atherosclerosis (Natalia Łopacińska & Prof. Johannes Bluijssen), and RNA-induced toxicity (Prof. Krzysztof Sobczak).
- Dynamic Formats: Between 8 rapid-fire Flash Talks and an interactive Poster Session, the energy was unmatched. A special highlight was the Scientific Speed Dating session, brilliantly led by Dr Agata Stępień and Dr Abraham Muniz-Chicharro, which sparked fantastic cross-disciplinary ideas.
- The Perfect Finale: We concluded the academic block with closing remarks from the Institute Director, Prof. Piotr Ziółkowski, before transitioning into a vibrant Social Mixer and BBQ surrounded by nature at the UAM Botanical Garden. 🍔🌸
