Andonis did his PhD in molecular biology at Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) and partially at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, studying the effects of various drugs on mitochondrial function. He is a molecular biologist. In his research work, he uses molecular biology, biophysics and bioinformatics techniques. He leads project on characteristics of human VDAC3 under physiological and pathological conditions. Currently he is managing a small team in a project on a biological assay for screening inhibitors of the main protease SARS-CoV-2, Spike-ACE2 interaction and the effect of coronavirus on mitochondria.

Amateur cheesemaker. Produces electronic music in any possible spare time.
