Anna received her MSc degree in biotechnology from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. She then moved to Warsaw for her PhD, and worked in the group of prof. Adam Szewczyk at Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, exploring the role cation transport in heart muscle mitochondria. Later she joined Department of Bioenergetics at AMU for her postdoc, studying the mitochondrial potassium channels in unicellular organisms and mammalian cells. Her current interests include mitochondrial ion channel regulation in pathology, the influence of mitochondrial channel activity on immune cell physiology and the role of cardioprotective flavonoids in the modulation of mitochondrial potassium channel activity.
