Nina received her MSc in Molecular Biology and her PhD in Biological Sciences from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. She completed a several-week scientific internship in Anthony Moore’s laboratory, School of Life Sciences, University of Sussex, Brighton, UK. Nina is specialized in studies of energy dissipating systems in the mitochondria of different eukaryotes (alternative NAD(P)H dehydrogenases, alternative oxidase, uncoupling protein). Among other things, she conducts research confirming the function of proteins resulting from the expression of genes encoding these putative proteins in heterologous systems. Her current interests include the possibility of using alternative proteins of the respiratory chain as potential drug targets.

She likes mountain hiking and yoga practice.
