Wojtek graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań with Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biotechnology. During his Bachelor, he worked on estimation of LEU2 auxotrophic marker effect on cell viability of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae model of Huntington disease. His master thesis was entitled “Differentiation of VDAC protein isoforms in freshwater and terrestrial gastropods”. During his Master’s studies he participated in the Erasmus+ programme and studied for a semester at the University of Jaen (Spain). In addition to this, he did internships in two places: Institute of Plant Protection – Interdepartmental Laboratory of Molecular Biology and in Horse Genetic Markers Laboratory of Poznań, University of Life Sciences. In October 2019 he started PhD studies and the goal of his PhD thesis is to understand the role of a low-expressed yeast VDAC paralog (yVDAC2).
