Adam completed his undergraduate studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (AMU). Then he carried out his doctoral studies at the School of Life Sciences (Center for Gene Regulation and Expression, University of Dundee, UK), where he studied the molecular mechanisms involved in the transcription of ribosomal RNA genes by RNA polymerase I. After graduation, he returned to Poland and joined prof. Włodzimierz Krzyżosiak’s laboratory (Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences), where his research focused on the molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis and experimental therapy of trinucleotide repeat disorders, i.e. Huntington’s disease and spinocerebellar ataxias. From January 2022, Adam joined prof. Krzysztof Sobczak’s laboratory at AMU, where he studies the initiation of RAN translation on CGG repeats (FXTAS disease context). In addition, he is exploring new roles of MBNL proteins expanding our understanding of these protein factors in physiological conditions as well as in the context of myotonic dystrophy (DM).
