​Gilbert received his MSc degree in Biotechnology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. During Master’s studies, he worked in Dorota Raczyńska’s lab at IMBB where he used CRISPR/Cas9 approach to obtain U87 glioblastoma FUS KO cell line. In 2021, he started PhD studies in RNA and Disease Lab. The main aim of his project is to therapeutically increase MBNL1 expression in DM1 cells using CRISPR activation method. Moreover, Gilbert is interested in long non-coding RNAs, especially antisense lncRNAs and their possible implications in diseases. In his PhD project, he is studying the putative role of MBNL1-AS1 in DM1.
