Iza graduated from the Poznan University of Life Sciences with a Master’s degree in Biotechnology. During her studies she worked on developing new methods for hypercholesterolemia diagnostics (Institut für angewandte Humangenetik und Onkogenetik in Leipzig), but finally her Master’s thesis concerned pharmacogenetics of anesthetic drugs (Institute of Human Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences). After that she joined the group of Professor Jarmuszkiewicz at Adam Mickiewicz University to investigate mitochondrial physiology in endothelial cells. At the same time, she studied medical laboratory science at the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin. In 2018 she got a PhD degree in biochemistry. Now, in Professor Sobczak’s team she is discovering the link between mitochondria and trinucleotide repeat disorders.
