Joanna graduated in Biotechnology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. She later joined Prof. Sobczak’s research group to pursue her PhD, focusing on the impact of the mutated polyglycine protein on the pathogenesis of fragile X-associated conditions (FXPAC) caused by expansion of CGG repeats in the FMR1 gene. Her research includes the derivation of stable cell models expressing FMR1 fragment with normal and expanded CGGs and studying the impact of the toxic polyglycine protein aiming to better understand the pathogenic mechanisms of FXPAC in search of possible treatment strategies.
