Mireia is a biotechnologist with a Master’s Degree in Genetic research from University of Valentia (Spain). Now she is working in frame of the ENTRY-DM consortium project funded by the European Union under the HORIZON-MSCA-Doctoral Network programme. ENTRY-DM focuses on developing a new RNA-based therapy for Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 (DM1) and Type 2 (DM2). The goal of her project is to use antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) to induce skipping of exon carrying toxic CUG repeats in DMPK mRNA in DM1 cells. The most efficient ASOs could become candidates for further studies in animal models and future therapeutic development.
