Karolina obtained her master’s degree in biotechnology at the University of Silesia in Katowice under the supervision of Prof. Jolanta Kwaśniewska. She analyzed the replication pattern in chromosomes of Hordeum vulgare after exposure to mutagens. Then she did her PhD in the Plant Cytogenetics and Molecular Biology Group of Prof. Robert Hasterok. Her research focused on the application of the CRISPR/Cas9 targeted mutagenesis system in the editing and study of Brachypodium distachyon and B. hybridum genomes. She is now a member of the group of Prof. Piotr Ziółkowski at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. She works as a postdoc in the project titled: “Identification of chromatin factors affecting meiotic crossover formation in plants”.
