Katarzyna studied biotechnology at the Adam Mickiewicz University. After graduation she started her Ph.D. studies at the the Ludwik Rydygier Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz, NCU wher she received Ph.D. degree in Medical Sciences. Her research focused on the molecular basis of diseases resulting from impaired DNA repair processes, e.g. Fanconi anemia.

In 2014, she joined the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, her work concentrated mainly on the genomic characterization of kidney cancer. A few years ago, she decided to move from pipetting and PCRs to computers and algorithms. She now combines her wet-lab expertise with bioinformatics skills by analysing various NGS data.
