Piotr is a computational biologist with an experimental background. His Ph.D. research is focused on the genetic bases of disease resistance in Brassica napus. He analyzed genomic and transcriptomic data to identify candidate resistance genes, which he currently experimentally evaluates in the Arabidopsis thaliana model system. An interesting finding concerning the genomic meiotic recombination landscape in the studied B. napus populations led him to launch a side project, in which he uses targeted Nanopore sequencing to characterize putative recombination hot spots.
