Artur received the PhD degree in 1988 at AMU in Poznan, Poland. In the same year, he started his post-doc at the Massachusetts University at Amherst, USA, where he studied newly discovered at that time snoRNA molecules, focusing on their biogenesis and function. While in Amherst, he worked in the group that was headed by Dr. Maurille Fournier. In 1991 he was awarded the EMBO long-term fellowship, and moved to Heidelberg in Germany to work at EMBL with Dr. Iain Mattaj on pre-mRNA splicing and RNA export. Artur is now a group leader at AMU working on RNA metabolism in plants. His group focuses on biogenesis and function of microRNAs, as well as cotranscriptional processing of RNA polymerase II-derived transcripts. He is a member of EMBO.
