Jakub is a molecular biologist who did his PhD at Adam Mickiewicz University working on the role of splicing and microRNA biogenesis in gene expression regulation in Arabidopsis. He discovered and described protein factors controlling alternative splicing by the regulation of RNAPII processivity and novel, chromatin-related function for AGO1 in Arabidopsis. He did his postdoc at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, NY, USA in the Laboratory of Prof. Rob Martienssen working on the role of small RNA modifications. Currently, he is continuing work on epitranscriptomics and co-transcriptional RNA maturation in plants.
